Childbirth Preparation Classes

I offer the following non-traditional hospital-based childbirth classes as an independent contractor at Santiam Memorial Hospital.


Monday Night Childbirth Preparation Classes

A very extensive and thorough childbirth preparation class focused on drug-free childbirth, optimal fetal positioning, informed choice and information on medications and interventions if necessary.
January, March, May, July, September and November sessions
5-class series
Mondays 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Breastfeeding class (class #5) taught by Patty Sherman, CNM
Snacks are included
Cost: $25 or free with proof of OHP coverage

Saturday Childbirth Preparation Classes

2-part series
Saturday July 12 and July 19
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
A 2-part Saturday childbirth class to better accommodate families who cannot attend the 5-week Monday-night class. Includes the same information as the Monday-night classes, but in a slightly condensed format.
Snacks are included.
Cost: $25 or free with proof of OHP coverage

Private in-home classes

Cost: $200 a series

Breastfeeding Services

Breastfeeding clinic/group




Weekly breastfeeding clinic with one-on-one consultation to help with questions and problems from 9:00–11:00 a.m. followed by a weekly breastfeeding group from 11:00–12:00 to connect with other nursing moms in the area to build a support network. Pregnant moms are welcome!

Dates: Every Friday

Location: Santiam Memorial Hospital—Conference Room

Cost: Free for families giving birth at Santiam Memorial Hospital

No pre-registration is needed.


Private in-home breastfeeding counseling

Cost: $35/hour Please contact me to schedule.


Breastfeeding Education Classes for Providers

Breastfeeding classes are also available to healthcare providers looking for tips on supporting breastfeeding women, and how to increase successful breastfeeding in their clients.

Takes about an hour
Cost: $50 per cast (includes all materials except for decoration)
